We care about the world.
In 2015, the United Nations approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs). These goals continue and strengthen the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and must guide the work of the United Nations for the next 15 years to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
Our company is proud to be able to contribute to a better future by achieving 14 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

- Minimum price, to cover the costs of sustainable production
- Premium: extra funding for community projects
- Prohibition of forced and child labor
- Fight against climate change
- The non-use of chemical pesticides
Under the Fairtrade seal we position ourselves as a sustainable company, since they directly have 8 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Cooperation for development
DONKERBOS PRIMARY SCHOOL & HOSTEL
Pupils that live in Donkerbos Primary School & Hostel had to walked 6 kilometers to the nearest bore hole for water supply. They were rationed to two glasses of water a day and they bathed in rain water in a plastic tub.
These conditions affected their health, and some had to attend to a hospital for illness. Toilets and showers were built years ago in Donkerbos Primary School & hsotel, but they couldn’t use it as there was no water supply. At Kalahari coffee we wanted to help improve that situation, that’s why we are grateful to contribute to building a solar bore hole (one near the school and the second 450 meters into the bush) that produce more than 15800 liters of water per hour.
PROVISION OF A SOLAR POWERED BORE HOLE
The bore hole will be very helpful to the community, it will supply water to the school, dormitory, and surrounding residents of the settlement.
With a good working water irrigation system, the garden can provide sufficient vegetables that can be used in the hostel kitchen to provide additional nutrition in the children’s meals.
